Question #69081 (2010-02-02)

  I am looking for a article about the calgary zoo, and two
swans that ended up closing part of the dinosaur park. I
believe that this was in 1995. How, and where can I access
old copies of the calgary herald. Thank you in advance.

Answer(s):

Hello,

We checked our subscription database to the Calgary Herald and found two articles from August of 1995 relating to swans at the zoo. (The articles we found were from August 23 and August 25, 1995, and related to the removal and death of a swan from the zoo.)

You can access the Calgary Herald database online for free with your library card. To begin, go to our website at:

http://calgarypubliclibrary.com

-Click on the "E-Library" tab at the top of the page -Select "Canadian" under "Subject find" -Select "Canadian Newsstand" from the list of databases -You will be asked to sign in with your library card number and PIN -The next page that comes up should say "Proquest" at the top -Click on the "Publications" tab at the top -Click on the letter C at the top, and scroll down to the "Calgary Herald - Full Text" database.

We used the search terms SWAN CALGARY ZOO, and this brought up eleven articles in order by date. You can then select the articles that you would like to read.
