Hello! Thank you for your question about the WWII POW
camp at Medicine Hat. I have to say that it is a bit
difficult to find reputable sources that give good
information, but I was successful in finding this website:
http://www.albertasource.ca/homefront/ww2/alberta_at_war/camps/mh_leth.html This site is from the Heritage Community Foundation
which is a "charitable Trust committed to connecting people
with heritage".
http://www.heritagecommunityfdn.org/about.html
It is partially funded by the Government of Canada and
the Alberta Government. Near the bottom of the page there is
a short reference list of additional sources of information
on this topic. There are also a couple of links to more
information on the trouble that occurred in the Medicine Hat
camp, including the following link and some of the other
camps around Alberta.

The following page is from Alberta's Online
Encyclopedia:
http://www.albertasource.ca/lawcases/criminal/powmurder/setting_camps_canada.htm This page has a brief timeline of the war and a little
bit of information about the start of the POW camps.
All of the information I have provided is from Alberta
Source. I tried to find some other sites to get information
from, but I didn't find them to be reputable as they are
more 'personal/opinion' websites.
I hope that this information proves useful to you. Thank
you for using Ask A Question! Feel free to submit another
question any time. Have a great day!
