Question #73184 (2010-05-12)
I'm sure this isn't the kinda of question that this site
is for but I'm really not getting much help asking
elsewhere. I want to become a librarian but don't know what
I need to do this. I know there is a course at SAIT but I
don't really have the means to move there. Would a teacher's
aide course suffice? Is there another course? Distance
education or is schooling necessary? Please let me know.
Answer(s):
Thank you for your question. I am uncertain whether you
are inquiring about librarian education, which requires
a
Masters of Library Science Degree, or a Library
Information
Technology Diploma (2 year course). As you mentioned
SAIT, I
am assuming LIT. At the present SAIT only offers one
year
online, but as of July 2010, they are planning on
offering
the entire course online. There a few other colleges
that
offer this course online, one being Mohawk College out
of
Hamilton, Ontario and is one of the least expensive
accredited courses.
If you have a degree already, there are courses to
obtain your Masters in Library Science online as well.
I hope this answers your question but if you need
further information, please submit another question.
