- Question 62595 asked on 2009-09-20 17:20:49
William Ormond Adams died in Calgary 6 April 1892. The
Calgary Weekly Herald reported that he died in the Mission
Hospital. The MacLeod Gazette reported that he died in the
Sister's Hospital. The Calgary Weekly Herald's report was
the same day as William's death, so I am inclined to go with
what it says. Was the Sister's Hospital just another name
for the Mission Hospital? Thanks. (delete)

Hello- I'm a librarian at Boston University and am trying
to help a student who is working on a set design for a play
set in Calgary during the 1940s. She is interested in the
social history of the time, particularly women's clothing
and fashion. She also wants to see photographs and
illustrations of social conditions, housing, etc. Finally,
she would also like some narrative descriptions of Calgary
life during this decade. Could you suggest a website that
might provide such information? What about any books on the
topic? I looked in WorldCat but almost all the cited books
were demographic unillustrated studies of the city. She is
looking for illustrated material but with helpful narrative
content. I would appreciate any suggestions for websites or
print material on this topic. Thank you very much for your
assistance and time. Sincerely, [name deleted] Memorial Library Boston University Boston, Massachusetts
