I am writing to ask if your library holds a original copy
of the Ottawa Journal, Friday, 12 May 1967. Library and
Archives Canada has suggested that you might. I am seeking
an original copy from which a photograph can be made of an
article and image for reproduction in a book. LAC does not
have an original copy in its collection.

I have a reference question that you may be able to help
me with. A library patron is looking for a book about
Canada… not the tourist type of book but more about, as he
says, “how Canada is better than the United States”
which, knowing this fellow as I do, means “more
politically ‘left’ than the US.” He is a Quaker and
greatly admired Canada for “taking in the draft
resisters” in the Viet Nam era. He is worried about the
apparent “rightward” drift but still thinks Canada is a
“better place.” I'm writing from the Princeton Public
Library in Princeton NJ, USA but my parents live in Calgary.
Thank you.
