we have had lots of hummingbirds over the summer, but none in the last few weeks. Why?

Trying to identify a hawk. It's a juvenile almost grown. Barred tail. Not white bars but dark with lighter browns White bib. Speckled breast & I think feathered legs. Wing-span about a meter. Back is dark with white speckles.(feathers)

Light Green Caterpillar with tan bars and a tan colored spike on tail end ,approx 3-4" long and about half an inch in diameter. Did not like having a plastic bag put over it.
