Communications & Media
- Question 84556 asked on 2011-09-27 14:36:46
I'm writing to you as both a student and as a
practitioner. As a student, it's interesting to engage with
all sorts of social media tools; read scholarly papers and
research; Tweet; and develop blogs, wikis, web
strategy/social media plans, and other means of
disseminating information. As a communications specialist
working for a polytechnic, I am particularly interested in
finding out about best practices using social media in
higher education. I read an article this week entitled
"Johns Hopkins, Harvard, Notre Dame among the top schools
for social media"
(http://www.prdaily.com/Main/Articles/9577.aspx). Given my
work as a communications specialist, I am wondering whether
you can provide me with some information on how
post-secondary institutions use social media to engage
prospects/donors (with a view to receiving either gifts in
kind, or funds for bursaries and scholarships) industry and
business partners (those who offer work placements to
students enrolled in cooperative education programs, for
example) alumni and alumni chapters I would also be
interested in any additional information you may have about
best practices with respect to developing and implementing a
social media strategy for this type of stakeholder
engagement.

I am wanting to look in old newspapers from Feb 1985 and
also 1982. I am looking for obituaries and for a story that
may or may not have been printed in Feb '85. Can you tell me
where I would go to look at such things?
