I'm the author of the JP Kinkaid Chronicles. TRAC
libraries carry earlier titles in this series. The newest
Chronicles (Graceland, April 2011, ISBN 9780984436231 and
Book of Days, September 2011, ISBN 9780984436262) were
released to brilliant reviews in Booklist, Publishers
Weekly, and Library Journal. They're available through every
major distributor except Baker & Taylor at the moment. To
whose attention would I bring these titles as suitable
additions to your collection? Thanks for your help.
- Question 84921 asked on 2011-10-15 19:42:04
Hello, I'm writing a paper about the The Copyright
Modernization Act (C-11) and public library services. Can
you provide me with some information about the ways in which
copyright law currently affects the services EPL can or
cannot offer? Or, more generally, some information on
copyright and public libraries? I'll go to the university
for academic articles, so I guess I'm hoping you could point
me towards newspaper or magazine articles; materials
published by the library on the subject would be great!
Digital resources would be very useful, but I do have an EPL
card so I'd be happy to come in to look at available
materials, too.

I'm writing a paper on the debate over fee vs. free in

a little nebulous as well.

- Question 85101 asked on 2011-10-24 14:09:03
Hi there! Just wondering if you could provide for me a
short list of children's books (picture books mainly) that
deal with the subject of making friends and dealing well
with people? I work with developmentally delayed children
who sometimes have a hard time interacting with other kids
their age as well as understanding appropriate social cues.
No more than 20 books (max) would be needed. Titles and
authors will suffice. Thank you so much!

- Question 85161 asked on 2011-10-28 09:28:18
Hello, I am a librarian from Alberta. The library I am
working at is considering creating a juvenile kids series
section apart from stand alone kids titles and we are
researching how other libraries organize their kids series.
Do you know, are your kids series housed separately? If so,
are they organized by series title? How do you catalogue
each title? If there is no kids series section, do you
organize series' within juvenile fiction? If the series has
different authors (the 'Dear Canada' series for example), do
you separate the series? Your insight into this matter would
be greatly appreciated as we are looking for ways to make it
easier for kids to find books in series. Thanks in advance
for your assistance, [name deleted]

- Question 85595 asked on 2011-11-21 14:14:12
I am a student at the U of A School of Library and
Information Studies, and I am working on a project on
Aboriginals and their access to libraries. I am trying to
find our if there any native reserves in Alberta have
libraries (other than in schools - but colleges I would be
interested in). I have looked through the directory of
public libraries in AB and cross-referenced it with a list
of reserves - there are some names that are the same on
both, but I have no idea if the library is in the community
or the reserve (i.e. Wabamun, Wabasca, Hay Lake, Cold Lake).
Where can I find out about this? If there are not libraries
on reserves, is there a reason why? (Legislative,
funding,etc?)
