I have finished the Stieg Larssen series and read it with
total addiction. I now wish to start the Kurt Wallander
Mystery Series. I have a book list which is chronologically
arranged from Faceless Killers, 1991, down to #13 The
Troubled Man Kurt Wallander, 2009. I want to read them in
order, and would appreciate knowing where to start, and
continue on, chronogically. In the book list there's another
confusing addition; a 1999 Kurt Wallander book, The Pyramid.
Is it part of the Series? I'd really like to know where to
start, and if the Pyramid is a book separate and apart from
this or any series. Thank You! (name deleted)

Hello, I need to know the exact page number of the
following quotation. It's from Edmund White's famous novel,
A Boy's Own Story: "I was content to accept every truth
science might establish, though at the same time I
recognized that what most interested me science couldn’t
address: subjectivity."

I am looking for a book that I believe was written by
either O. Henry or James Thurber. It is about a
mild-mannered man who lives a dull and dreary life during
the work week, but on the weekend he goes, unbeknownst to
his wife, to play piano in a gritty club. I read it in the
late 1960's - early 1970's. My first was that the book was
The Secret Life of Walter Mitty, but that is not it. If you
can identify the title it would be much appreciated. Thanks.

Hi, I'm looking for the title and author of a children's
picture book. I remember borrowing it from the edmonton
public library in the mid "80's when I was a child. I
remember the story pretty vividly:it was about a little boy
who traveled on a ship with his parents. there was a storm
and everyone left and forgot about him. He and his dog ended
up on a deserted island populated by goats, ( and they were
happy about it) - anyway if someone else knows of this book
I would be thrilled. thanks ania

Looking for the title of a short story by Anton Chekhov.
It's referenced (without a title) in 2 places: 1.
http://www.carnegiecouncil.org/resources/transcripts/0449.html
The Chekhov story that he told at Yale a few months before
writing the X article was of a landowner who had tried to
reform the peasants on an estate in Russia and had gotten
nowhere. The head peasant follows her off into the distance.
She is crushed and disappointed, and the head peasant says,
"Don't be sad, mistress. Give them a couple of years. If you
want to build that school on the hill, you can't do it all
at once. You first have to clear the stones. You first have
to level the ground. You first have to persuade the people
that are going to build it that they want to head it. But if
you're patient, if you give it time, they will come along."

I was reading a book on an airplane and left it in the
seat pocket when I left the plane. Sadly, I cannot remember
the title or the author. It was about a 90+ year old man who
reflected on his life I believe in or around Turkey during
the war. He met a girl with two different coloured eyes and
was attracted to her. The man now lives in U.S. and has a
daughter who is trying to look after him as he transitions
in and out of reality. The cover shows a girl with two
different coloured eyes. One green and one blue, I believe.
I bought the book at Costco, but now I can't find a
replacement anywhere as I need to see the cover to recognize
it. The tile started with a C and I believe it was Turkish
for Comander or something like "Commissaire. I could be way
off base! Please advise. Thankyou.
